Bottled Up

by Shelley Williams

I put hurt feelings in a jar
and turned to walk away,
I do not care for gossip
or the mean words people say.

My day was overwhelming
and everything went wrong,
I picked up the glass bottle
and put bad luck where it belong.

When I am faced with upset
and dark feelings of despair,
I put it in a glass container
and leave it sitting there.

I overlook the bad luck,
the gossip, and the hate,
I let go of the heart break
and I know my worth is great.

My feelings are bottled up
and left where they belong,
The pain has no effect on me
when the glass I hold is strong.
