Musings of a Dog

by Vivien Wade

It’s very nice to be a dog,
And sit at my master’s feet
To be fed, groomed and loved,
And go walkies down the street

But I think I'd rather be a cat
Having long sharp claws,
To climb high up into trees,
I can’t do that with my paws.

Maybe I should be a fish,
And swim each day in the sea,
For then I wouldn’t need a bath,
How wonderful that would be.

A bird, a rabbit, even a mouse,
At times I would like to be,
But when I stop and really think
The best thing to be is me!
