When No One Is There to See

Anonymous

Pocket a piece of litter
and straighten a crooked fence
Remove a dirty smudge
and save a favorite toy from dents

Take off your shoes or boots
to preserve a polished floor
Take only what's been offered
and don't take any more

Don't go cutting corners
Do well what you've agreed
And don't take all the credit if
the pair of you succeed

Do all this with pride,
compassion and respect
Never think "I did it...
...what more do you expect?"

For when you leave this planet
Your greatest strength will be
The character to have done all this
When no-one's there to see
