ELLEN BAILEY POEMS

I Remember

by Ellen Bailey

There are many people who say Saddam is not evil
And replacing him will cause such an upheaval
That it is better if he remains in power
But then I remember the Twin Towers

Some people think that he can be contained
Saying his armed forces have been drained
They contend he can be kept inside a box
But then I remember how sly the fox

Some say he has no weapons of mass destruction
And no such weapons are under construction
They say such talk is just a bunch of words
But then I remember the Kurds

I remember what they said about Hitler too
How he was appeased and how he was wooed
They said there would be peace in my time
But then I remember they were blind
