Worldly Heaven

by Ellen Bailey

Many think they have a worldly heaven on this earth
Displaying their possessions as a measure of their worth
They pounce and promenade among society with prestige
Confident that they have reached their destiny

They claim to have achieved this status on their own
Believing they don't need God's help and or anyone
They don't care how many others they may have hurt
They don't want anyone treading on their new turf

But God will not be so impressed on judgment day
These false and worldly heavens He will wash away
He will cleanse this earth from stem to stern
With fire and brimstone these abodes He will burn
