Old Man Winter

by Ellen Bailey

Old Man Winter you have broken all the rules
Your wintry blasts have become way too cruel
You have caused so much personal grief and pain
And your ever changing patterns confuse our brains

You have spread your winter storms across this land
And tested the best of weather tools made by man
You have brought such heavy rain, sleet and snow
We are forced to clear a path wherever we go

You have caused the closing of so many schools
I fear that many youngsters will grow up as fools
Your unpredictability many have tried to explain
Conveniently forgetting that you cannot be tamed
